Results

The GRASS CEILING project aimed to contribute to advancing the UN’s goals on gender parity, realise the EU gender equality strategy, and achieve the goals of the Green Deal, the Farm to Fork strategy, the Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas, and the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Key results

  1. Data sets about farm and rural women and inventory of position and resources. Foresight with Living Labs identifying plausible futures with women innovators.
  2. Nine Living Labs in diverse rural regions including mountainous, coastal, urban adjacent and remote, identifying knowledge and skills needed, increasing their capacity and networks; case studies analysing process and success. 
  3. Living Labs increasing the capacity and networking of 72 women for socio-ecological innovation; training leads to facilitate the Living Labs.
  4. Benchmarking of the EU Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy, the CAP, and the Long-Term Vision for rural areas, identifying how they address innovation needs for women.
  5. Co-create recommendations and tools with key actors and stakeholders in the European Policy Forum for policy and (A)KIS to design gender inclusive policies and responsive support services in (A)KIS and funders/banks.
  6. Continuity of the European Policy Forum within the Rural Pact Community Group on Women.
  7. Contribute further to relevant scientific debates through publications and scientific conferences.
  8. Raising awareness on women-led innovation by: social media campaigns on specific dates (as the International Women’s Day or the International Day of Rural Women), policy outcomes, recommendations and actions of the project, and the GRASS CEILING targeted awards.
  9. Creation of an online academy, a free online course designed to empower rural women and strengthen their role in agricultural innovation and rural development across Europe.
